How Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) Works in 2019?

What is Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)?

Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) is a service provided by Amazon India where they take responsibility of storage, packaging, and shipping of products, taking the burden off of the seller. This program allows Amazon India sellers to ship their merchandise to an Amazon fulfillment center, where items are stored in warehouses till their sale. When an order is placed, Amazon India employees physically prepare, package, and ship the product(s) thereby reducing the stress of the seller.

There are 2 methods to send products to FBA – Manually & through Shipping Template file. You can select inventory manually if you are sending a small quantity. However if you are sending a large quantity, you have to use template file.

Steps under Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA)

  1. Convert Inventories to Fulfilled by Amazon

The first step is choosing products to be sent to FBA by going to inventory panel & then subsequently select ‘Change to Fulfilled by Amazon’. After that, click on ‘Convert & Send Inventory’ on the next page.

  1. Create a Shipping Plan

After providing some required information about the products, you have to make a shipping plan in the next step by clicking on ‘Create a New Shipping Plan’. This page also displays the address from where the order will be shipped. Select your preferred fulfillment center by clicking on ‘Ship to’ & also choose your item package type. Close this step by clicking on ‘Continue to Shipping Plan’.

  1. Create your Shipment

Now is the time to create your product shipment. Specify Merchant SKU & Product name along with quantity of units, package dimension & weight. Select product category under ‘Prepare Products’ by clicking on ‘Choose Category’ & carry on to the next step.

  1. Label Product Shipment

The next step is downloading product labels under ‘Label Products’. You can select the size & dimension of the label from the drop down provided.  Once the labels are selected, click on ‘Print Labels for this Page’. All the product labels will be downloaded in a single page, which you have to paste individually to all your SKUs.

  1. Prepare Shipment for Shipping

The next & final step is to prepare the shipment for shipping. Choose your shipment method & shipping carrier as per your convenience & fill shipment packing details such as number of packed boxes, their weight & dimension.

After that, fill details related to shipping charges, download the generated shipping box labels & click on ‘Complete Shipment’.  Just fill the tracking details & your product is ready to ship to Amazon India warehouse.
